Michalis Gkaroudis

Born in Ellinochori in 1940. He grew up with his grandmother without knowing his parents, who were enlisted for resistance against the invaders. The phrase "Hurry! We're leaving !" haunted his childhood. He grew up in Hungary, where he lived until 1955. Then he left to Bulgaria, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts "Nikolay Pavlovich" in Sofia with Ilya Petrov (1903-1975) as a professor. He met his father in Paris after many years - but it was too late to ease the traumatic childhood experiences ... Since 1986, Michalis Gkaroudis lives and works in Thessaloniki.
